Stung by sharp criticism from users, Motorola finally announced the Moto E (Gen 2) Android 6.0 Marshmallow upgrade supposed to have been released last October.

Motorola has come-up with a list of its smartphones scheduled to receive the Marshmallow upgrade. This list, however, doesn’t include the second gen Motorola Moto E, a smartphone released this year.

Motorola updated its blog post on Android Central this Tuesday. It said users in Latin America, Canada, Asia and Europe will first get the Marshmallow update, reports Gadgets. NDTV. China is excluded from the list and Motorola hasn’t said anything about the update’s status in the United States.

Note further that the list also includes Moto X Force, Droid Maxx 2, Droid Turbo 2 and excludes the first generation Moto E, Moto X and Moto G, thus ruling out the possibility of an Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for the devices at all.

The updated Marshmallow software features numerous improvements such as Google Now on Tap; the power-saving Doze mode; Android Pay; a more updated app permission system and so on.

The Moto E (Gen 2) packs a 4.5-inch display screen at 540 x 960 pixel resolution. The device is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 or 400 chipset; 8 GB of internal space extended by a microsSD card, 1 GB of RAM; a VGA front-facing camera; a 5 MP primary camera and a 2,390 mAH battery.

Motorola further mentioned in its blog post that it wants to build more responsive and personal phones based on pure Android that come with more enhancements for overall improved functionality.
