MasterChef US” Season 7 winner Shaun O’Neale is certainly not wasting any time, getting right into action after the culinary competition’s finale. Two weeks since he was catapulted to victory, the 33-year-old Las Vegas DJ is now cooking up a storm for his highly anticipated cookbook.

The cookbook deal is part of Shaun’s prizes, in addition to taking home US$250,000 (AU$327,000). He took to Instagram to give his fans a glimpse of what to expect from his cookbook, which will be out in early 2017. In one post, he shared, “The cookbook is well underway! I can’t wait to share this recipe with you!”

Shaun also uploaded a photo of hazelnut herb crusted salmon with fresh ricotta and pea puree. In another post, Shaun is seen preparing hamachi crudo with wasabi aioli, which he said will be featured in an EatWith event in partnership with “MasterChef.” He captioned the photo, “Fine tuning my Hamachi Crudo for my upcoming @eatwith event!! Enter now to win an all expenses paid trip to Las Vegas to have a delicious meal prepared by yours truly.”



In the “MasterChef US” Season 7 finale, Shaun bested his contenders Brandi Mudd and David Williams after a three-course challenge. He managed to win the votes of judges Gordon Ramsay and Christina Tosi, as well as guest chefs Wolfgang Puck and Daniel Boulud. For his entrée, he prepared halibut cheek with Vadouvan carrot puree, pickled mushrooms and uni foam, followed by his main dish, spice-rubbed venison with Cipollini onions, smoked plums, black truffle, and fiddlehead ferns. For dessert, he plated salted caramel tart with dark chocolate ganache and raspberry coulis , which Gordon described as “f---ing delicious.”

Shaun also shared a victory message on Instagram right after the finals. “First off, I want to say a huge thank you to @masterchefonfox I am so incredibly honored to represent #MasterChef,” he wrote. He also thanked Gordon and Christina, claiming that one of the biggest prizes he got was being able to learn from them every day. Shaun continued, saying it was such an amazing experience being able to cook for two of the world’s elite chefs, Wolfgang and Daniel. He ends the post, promising, “Now it's time to use the title to share my food with the world!!”

Previous winners of “MasterChef US” have released their own cookbooks, including Season 6 winner Claudia Sandoval (“Claudia’s Cocina: A Taste of Mexico”), Courtney Lapresi of Season 5 (“Everyday Fancy”) and Luca Manfé of Season 4 (“My Italian Kitchen”).
