AnTuTu has revealed the top ten smartphones that delivers best performance for third quarter of 2014. Sitting on the numero uno position is the Meizu MX4 smartphone.

AnTuTu is one of the most preferred benchmark providers for mobile devices. In the recent past, Chinese smartphone manufactures like Xiaomi, Oppo, OnePlus and Meizu have gained good popularity outside China. According to Android Community, the top ten smartphones with best performance for third quarter of 2014 by AnTuTu was not produced on the basis of sales report or shipments. However, the performance was gauged from smartphone users spanning across 160 countries.

Meizu MX4 managed to produce a high score of 48792 that is closely followed by the Galaxy Note 4 with a score of 48622. The third position goes to the Galaxy Alpha with a score of 48,385 Other smartphones that made it to the list of best performing smartphones include the Galaxy Alpha, OnePlus One, Moto X, HTC One M8, Oppo Find7, Xperia Z3, Huawei Ascend Mate 7 and Xiaomi Mi4.

The Meizu MX4 which leads the list is powered with MediaTek MTK6595 processor. The Galaxy Note 4 is the only handset in the list that is powered by the Exynos Octa 7 processor. The Samsung Galaxy Alpha is powered with Snapdragon 801 chipset. Since the list features Exynos powered Galaxy Note 4, PhoneArena claims that the Snapdragon 805 edition of Note 4 is inferior to Exynos edition.

Unlike before, Qualcomm's Snapdragon has serious competitors but it still manages to dominate the list released by AnTuTu. Qualcomm will hope to regain the first position when it releases the Snapdragon 810 64-bit octa-core processor in the near future.

The Meizu MX4 has impressive specs onboard. The handset features a 5.4-inch IPS LCD display screen which supports a unique screen resolution of 1152 x 1920 pixels with a pixel density of 418 ppi. PhoneArena claims the 75.52 percent of the front of the device is occupied by the screen and it has very thin bezels.

The MX4's powerful processor is supported by 2 GB of RAM. The handset is available in two storage choices of 16 GB and 32 GB. The main camera features a 20.7 MP Sony CMOS IMX220 sensor and there is a front-facing camera of 2 MP. The MX4 is packed with 3,100 mAh battery. Outside of China, the Meizu MX4 is available with a price tag of U.S. $449.
