Amidst the launch of Xiaomi Redmi 3, images of the forthcoming Xiaomi Mi 5 were already leaked on Weibo. However, the post was taken down for unknown reasons.

Gadgetz Arena was the first to notice the leaked images and it shows the design of the black-coloured variant which has a physical button on the bottom. Last month, some real images of Xiaomi Mi 5 in white was leaked along with an alleged video of the device. According to the leaked images of the Xiaomi Mi 5 black variant, the device is thinner than its predecessor.

It is speculated that Mi 5 will have Snapdragon 820 SoC, paired with 4GB RAM and will sport a 5.2-inch QHD display. The device may boast a 16MP rear camera and a 13MP front-facing camera. Mi 5 packs with a 3,500 mAh battery.

PC-Tablet cites that the new handset has Qualcomm’s Quick Charge technology, which can charge quickly, and will also have pink-coloured dual front-facing speakers. The website also states that Mi 5 may come with a pressure sensitive touchscreen and USB Type-C 1.0 reversible connector. The device will run on the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

Xioami Mi 5 will not feature an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner as rumoured earlier and the device is currently in the mass production stage. The device’s camera is said to deliver 5,312 x 2,988 pixels of images and will feature Synaptics ClearForce technology, notes PC-Tablet.

According to speculations, the Chinese company may launch the Mi 5 on Jan. 21 and will hit the shelves by Feb. 8. However, no specific information regarding the pricing is revealed.

Xioami is set to launch Redmi 3 on Jan.12 which will sport Snapdragon 616 SoC coupled with 2GB RAM and an internal memory of 16GB. The device will boast of a 13MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera and will be powered by an octa-core 1.5 GHz processor. The device runs on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, MIUI on top of it.
