The HTC One M7 Google Play Edition and HTC One M8 Google Play Edition handsets were supposed to receive the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop firmware upgrade by the end of November, but that did not happen. And then, it was again in the news that both GPe devices would receive the update on Dec. 1, but it did not come true.

According to IKnowToday, when the Android 5.0 Lollipop builds were submitted by HTC to Google for the first time, Google was not content with it, and hence, it was not approved. And then, users of HTC One GPe and HTC One M8 GPe were promised to receive the Android Lollipop update by Dec. 1, but the day passed and users were unable to see any OTA update on their devices.

PhoneArena says Mo Versi, the VP of Product Management at HTC, has revealed the reason why Google has not approved the Android 5.0 Lollipop builds for Its HTC One M7 and M8 GPe smartphones for the second time. It is because of the tech giant's busy schedule.

@forrestcarle Hi Forest, Google has not provided TA this evening due to their current workload. I'm expecting it to come soon.

On Saturday, Versi revealed the software update would be available by this week. Android GS claims users of both Google Play Edition smartphones should be able to see the Android 5.0 Lollipop update pop up any time soon. It further states some owners of the said devices may have to wait longer to receive the Android Lollipop, whereas others may see get it soon. If the Android Lollipop OTA update does not show up automatically, users can check for the update manually by going to About phone > System updates > Check now.

The Android 5.0 Lollipop features the refreshing Material Design UI and plenty of performance improvements and new features. Although it has been arriving quite slowly to the intended devices, the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for Nexus devices was marred by various issues related to Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and battery draining problem.
