Grammy Awards 2016: Kendrick Lamar dominates the nominations. Aussie artists Courtney Barnett and Tame Impala also nab nominations.

Kendrick Lamar has the lead in this year’s Grammy with 11 nominations. Taylor Swift and The Weeknd are also off to a rousing year nabbing 7 nominations each.

CBS has announced on Monday, Dec. 7, the nominees for the 58th Grammy Awards. Lamar, who has been nominated for 7 categories in 2014 is up for 11 nominations including Song of the Year and Best Rap Album.

In close second, Taylor Swift and The Weeknd have 7 nominations each. John Legend, who has had a solid outing this year with the success of his hit single, “All of Me” is up for 4 nominations. Meanwhile, indie artist Courtney Barnett who led the winners at the recent ARIA music awards is up for Best New Artist and fellow Aussie nominee, Tame Impala is up for Best Alternative Music Album.

Lamar, Swift and The Weeknd will duke it out for Album of the Year alongside Alabama Shakes’ “Sound and Color,” and Chris Stapleton’s “Traveller.”

Fifteen time Grammy winner Alicia Keys has announced the musicians vying for major categories in Album of the Year, Song of Year and Best New Artist. Overall, the Grammy Awards 2016 has 83 categories.

The eligibility period for the 2016 Grammys is from Oct. 2014 to Sept. 30, 2015. New albums from Adele, One Direction and Justin Bieber missed the cut. However, the three may still be nominated come 2017. The Grammys awarding ceremony will take place at the Los Angeles Staples Center on Feb. 15, 2016 and will be broadcasted on CBS.
