Google Keep is the note-making app from the search engine giant. Even though it is a Google product, it has not gained much popularity compared with other famous note-taking apps like Evernote. Unlike other leading note-making apps, the Google Keep app is not frequently updated. And ever since it was launched in March 2013, Google Keep has been available with simple and limited features. However, now Google has updated it with much-needed collaboration features.

Offical Android Blog states the new update for the Keep app released by Google introduces the note-sharing feature for its users. It has been one of the most wanted features, and finally, it has arrived with real-time collaboration on Keep notes. This means users can share the lists they create on Google Keep with family and friends, so they can access and work on them simultaneously.

VentureBeat explains the arrival of note sharing on Keep by highlighting an example from Google on creating and sharing a grocery list with friends or family members. They can tick off products from the list when they purchase them from the grocery store. Since the lists are refreshed on real-time basis, it allows users to work collaboratively.

The other feature that Google has introduced on the Keep app is the in-app search functionality. Moreover, it even allows users to refine the search by different attributes like colour, shared items, reminders, lists, audio and images. The search functionality easily allows users to find what they're looking for.

Since the time Google Keep was released and prior this update, it lacked major features like note sharing and in-app search feature. Google Keep was updated on Nov. 14 to support the Material Design UI of Android 5.0 Lollipop. The new Google Keep also supports Android Wear OS and also brings performance improvements, states NDTV.

The latest version for Android can be downloaded through Google Play Store. Only Android devices with Android 4.0 ICS and above will support the newest edition. The Chrome Web Store has also updated its edition of Google Keep. Also, users can access the latest Web-based edition by accessing keep.google.com.
