“Girl Meets World” has been cancelled by Disney Channel, and the announcement has visibly left fans appalled. But avid viewers of the show won’t remain sitting and crying as a campaign called “Paper Airplane Campaign” has been launched to save the beloved series. The show’s creator Michael Jacobs has expressed his gratitude for the campaign and said that it is something that fans came up with by themselves.

The “Paper Airplane Campaign” encourages “Girl Meets World” fans to write letters to several networks including Hulu and Netflix. They are hoping that such move will convince one of these networks to pick up the show.

Jacobs has admitted that the campaign says a lot. “Networks want to do something to gather an audience. The fact that there is an audience who’s been so loyal says a lot,” he said.

The show’s creator has earlier revealed that there is a possibility that the show will have a new home network and that the series should not have ended. “I don’t think ‘Girl should have been cancelled. We signed to do four seasons. I thought we would be able to tell stories through four seasons. That’s the way we set it up,” he told the Wrap.

The official confirmation of “Girl Meets World” cancellation on Disney Channel has reached fans earlier this month. The final episode of the show in its home network is titled “Girl Meets Goodbye.” The said episode is said to include the biggest group of “Boy Meets World” cast members in “Girl Meets World” history.

Fans are left guessing about who among the “Boy Meets World” actors will appear in the finale. But Pop Wrapped has noted that both actresses who played Morgan (Lily Nicksay and Lindsay Ridgeway) will be part of “Girl Meets Goodbye.” The finale episode of “Girl Meets World” is expected to air in Australia on Jan. 20 on Disney Channel.
