The final episode of "Downton Abbey" Season 8 is going to focus on Rose's wedding preparations, Green's murder mystery, Edith's secret, war-memorial, Branson's decision to move to America and Gladys Denker.

The last episode of "Downton Abbey" saw Isobel telling the rest of the family members about her decision to marry Lord Merton. Lord Merton's sons -- especially Larry -- were not happy about that. She convinced Edith to return home and later tried to convince Robert, without telling him the truth, to allow Edith to raise Marigold. Also in the episode, Lord Gillingham saw Blake kissing Mary, which made him end his relationship with Mary. Also, Blake did not go after Mary but he said goodbye to her.

In the final episode, Rose and Atticus are set to face obstacles, as they make preparations to get married. The preview and synopsis of the episode reveal that "family tensions on both sides threaten to derail proceedings."

Robert is likely to figure out Edith and Marigold's relationship because of the little girl's resemblance with one of the parents, according to Mirror. Also in the episode, it is time to unveil the war memorial. As expected, Mrs Patmore will be upset but Robert is likely to come up with a solution that may cheer her up. Mirror hints that Branson may make up his mind to go to America but is likely to stay still Christmas.

The photos of the episode indicate that Anna and Bates are at the police station. According to the synopsis of the episode, "the storm clouds that have been gathering over Anna and Bates finally burst." Also in the episode, Denker will reveal an "unexpected" side to her personality.

Meanwhile, Matthew Goode has been roped in to play the potential new beau of Lady Mary. He is set to make an appearance in the special Christmas episode. The Telegraph has quoted a spokesman of the show as saying, "Matthew Goode will appear in the Christmas episode as a guest character."
