A man in Colorado won big, thanks to his persistence and good luck. The man, from Pueblo, continued playing the same numbers in the Colorado Lottery for 30 years and won two $1 million Powerball jackpots on the same day.

The man, identified as “Joe B,” hit the double Powerball jackpots on March 25 and claimed the cash on April 28 (Tuesday), the Colorado Lottery said in a tweet.

“Joe B” bought the two tickets on the same day, one in the morning and another in the evening from separate destinations, about a mile apart. Meghan Dougherty, Colorado Lottery’s communications director, said the first ticket was bought from a 7-Eleven outlet in 926 Lake Ave and the second one was bought from a Loaf and Jug outlet in 2050 Lake Avenue.

Colorado Lottery was granted approval earlier this month to process winning tickets worth $10,000 or more at a touch-free, drive-thru claims office, in the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak. The prizes were to be delivered on the basis of prior appointment, while the winners also have an option to claim them through e-mail.

A man in Florida earlier had managed to hit the Florida Lotto not just once but twice in a five-month span, winning $13 million in total. Both the times, he bought the tickets from the same 7-Eleven outlet in Edgewood. The man, identified as James Bozeman Jr., won $3 million in August 2012, which he chose to receive in annual payments of $100,000 over the next 30 years. His second stroke of luck came in the form of a $10 million dollar reward in February 2013, which he received as a one-time payment.

Another man in Massachusetts won two $1 million jackpot prizes in a span of 18 months from the state’s lottery. The man, identified as Rolf Rhodes, bought the second winning ticket for $10 in April from Mac Package Store, located at Prospect Street in Milford, after winning the first one in May 2018.
