Chris Cuomo Addresses Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s Resignation

For the first time on Monday night, CNN anchor Chris Cuomo addressed the resignation of his brother, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, after a state report found that he sexually harassed multiple female employees.
Chris Cuomo spoke about his brother’s scandal on CNN's "Cuomo Prime Time" show, breaking his silence after avoiding the network’s coverage of the harassment report.
"It's never been easy to be in this business coming from a political family, especially now," Chris Cuomo said about his decision not to cover the scandal previously. “I never covered my brother’s troubles because I obviously have a conflict and there are rules at CNN about that.”
Chris Cuomo added that he urged the governor to resign “when the time came.”
"My advice to my brother was simple and consistent: Own what you did. Tell people what you’ll do to be better. Be contrite. And finally, accept that it doesn’t matter what you intended. What matters is how your actions and words were perceived,” Chris Cuomo said.
Andrew Cuomo, who was facing possible impeachment, announced his resignation on August 10, stating he would officially step down within 14 days. Lt. Governor Kathy Hochul is set to take over and finish the rest of his term.
Earlier this month, the state's attorney general report found the governor engaged in “unwelcome and nonconsensual touching,” and repeatedly made comments on a “sexualized or gender-based nature.”
He had been receiving growing pressure to resign, most notably from President Joe Biden.
