A freak vehicular accident killed an 86-year-old Australian widower on Sunday when his car ran over him while he was visiting his wife's grave in Sydney.

Sydney police said the old man, who was with his son, fell in front of their Honda Accord at 11 am in Rookwood Cemetery, located in west Sydney.

The son attempted to revive his elderly father while waiting for the paramedics to arrive, but the widower was eventually declared dead due to the fatal injuries from the car accident.

Investigators are still looking into the circumstances behind the old man's death.

Meanwhile, in the death of another elderly male Sydney resident, police said the circumstances were not suspicious.

The 71-year-old man was involved in a disturbance at around 11:25 pm in his house at Goodna. When the police arrived, they found the man unconscious and no longer breathing.

The police and emergency workers tried to revive the elderly man, but they didn't succeed and he was declared dead.
