Bernard Tomic is losing a lot of significant matches in his career. Now, he’ll be losing a major partner as well.

The promising Australian player has been dropped by international company IMG from their roster s and made the announcement on the company’s official Twitter account:

IMG and Bernard Tomic have mutually ended our relationship. We wish Bernard great success on and off the tennis court.

“IMG is a global leader in sports, fashion and media operating in more than 30 countries around the world” according to the company’s official website. “The companies offer an unparalleled client roster; world-class partnerships with sponsors, brands and broadcasters; and marquee assets across entertainment, events and fashion.”

Losing the partnership with IMG means squandering potential marketing deals—estimated around millions of dollars-- for the Australian.

IMG tapped Tomic when he was still 13 years old owing to the Australian’s great potential. He has so far failed to live up to the hype.

Various reports have stated that the termination of the deal was because of Tomic’s off-court behaviour, which has taken over the headlines over his actual accomplishments on a tennis court.

"I don't know what's wrong ... it's like I killed somebody," Tomic said in a 2012 article after alleged driving misconduct. "They've given me three tickets and one officer feels like he wants to get me and it's not a good feeling. It's all happened on Australia Day when I am trying to have fun with my mates."

Days after he would get involved in a fight with a friend and police were called to the scene. He was even accused of tanking by legendary tennis player John McEnroe the same year.

Tomic’s highest ATP ranking was No. 27 in November of 2012 but has since fallen off the cliff. After an up-and-down campaign the past two years, Tomic is now ranked 124th in the world.

Tomic lost in the first round of the 2014 Australian Open losing to Rafael Nadal in the first round in a disappointing retirement after losing the first set, 4-6. He also lost in three easy sets to Richard Gasquet in the 2014 French Open also in the first round, 2-6, 1-6, 5-7.

The Australian did a bit better in the most recent Grand Slam, the 2014 Wimbledon Championships losing in the second round to Tomas Berdych, 6-4, 6-7(5), 6-7(3), 1-6.

In an on-going tournament, Tomic qualified as a wildcard at the Claro Open Colombia, a minor ATP tournament.

The Australian beat Uzbekistan’s Farruk Dustov in the first round, 6-3, 6-3; and then Colombia’s Alejandro Falla, 6-3, 6-2 in the second round. He will be tested next by third seed Canadian Vasek Pospisil in the quarterfinals.

Just 21 years old, Tomic still has a chance to turn his career around—with or without IMG.
