With the closing of the January transfer window yesterday, many are expecting confirmed news transfers from Arsenal. Well, Malaga's Nacho Monreal is revealed to be the latest addition to the team.

After days and weeks of scouting possible transfers, Wenger has decided to splurge on Spain international Nacho Monreal. According to Arsenal, they have signed the left-back player for approximately $16 million. Monreal is said to have agreed to a long-term deal for the team, thought to be about four and a half years.

The 26-year-old football player has played for 54 games for Malaga since his recruit back in 2011. Apart from being active on the team, he has also won seven caps for Spain.

Arsenal made their move after they ruled out Kieran Gibbs from their options. Arsene Wenger made a statement saying that the team is delighted to welcome Monreal on the team. He also revealed that they have been monitoring the player for several weeks before making the call.

"We are delighted that Nacho Monreal has agreed to join us. We have been monitoring him for some time now and are really pleased that we've been able to agree this move today," Arsene said. "Monreal is a strong left-sided defender with good experience at both club and international level. He is a technically gifted player, a good crosser in the final third and strong in the air. Monreal will add quality to our squad and of course, to our defensive unit. We all look forward to him playing for us."

Monreal was the only signing Wenger was able to make during the January window transfer. His attempts to recruit striker David Villa was a fail since Barcelona said they are not willing to sell or lend the player.

Nacho Monreal will be reunited with his former teammate from Malaga, Santi Cazorla. Arsenal signed up the ex-Malaga player for $24 million last summer.
