There have been early speculations that the next season of “American Horror Story”” will be set at sea. At the end of “Roanoke,” a teaser was shown on social media which says “Sweet Dreams” against a shot of waves. This has spurred rumours including one that says that the next season will be set aboard on a ghost ship, the S.S. Ourang Medan or could involve the popular sea mythology character Cthulu.

Either way, this would be a logically sound way to force a lot of characters in close quarters. However, Ryan Murphy, being the master of intrigue that he is, could have something unpredictable under his sleeve like he always does. An article on Gizmodo got brave and listed multiple story angles AHS season 7 can take, with some possibly closer to what Murphy and his crew has in store for fans.

Another “American Horror Story” speculation says that the next season will be sending the cast and crew on a deep-space mission. This out-of-this-world setting would allow the show to showcase a lot of weird costume opportunities. This could happen when they find themselves lost in another dimension in space and when they meet creepy creatures there.

One theory suggests that the next season could take place in a post-apocalyptic setting. This could be when after an apocalyptic event; society devolves into a lawless culture that is hell-bent on survival. People will be back to hunting and gathering, while some would try to emerge supreme in a society that is going to be built over once again.

Another speculation, which has been labelled online as the “American Supreme Story,” suggests that more god-like beings would appear on the show. This would make perfect sense for the show to delve deeper into the backdrop of the Haitian spirit Papa Legba and the English Scathach, which it had revealed earlier. They could also feature Aztec gods and, perhaps, some Lovecraftian beings that could have some close connections to aliens.

The list would go on and on for what could be the next season’s theme. However, a report by E! in which they spoke with FX boss John Landgraf confirms that the upcoming seventh season will be set in the modern day. Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters have also been confirmed to return. Previously, “American Horror Story” has misled its entire fan base with fake teasers. Whether or not the team is pulling off a similar trick for AHS season 7 remains to be seen.

“American Horror Story” season 7 is expected to premiere sometime in 2017. It airs on FX in the US and in Channel Eleven in Australia.
