Air New Zealand is giving Aucklanders the opportunity to get their COVID vaccine onboard a 787 aircraft on Saturday in a special vaccination event dubbed “Jabaseat.”

The Super Saturday "destination vaccination" event is part of an effort to get more New Zealanders vaccinated as the country hovers around an average of 50% of its eligible residents fully vaccinated, according to data from Johns Hopkins University.

The Jabaseat vaccination clinic onboard an Air New Zealand plane will offer vaccine recipients the first dose of the Pfizer COVID vaccine as well as a behind-the scenes glimpse of the aircraft hangar, tour of Business Premier, free inflight snacks, and a special boarding pass to commemorate the event.

To register for the Jabaseat with Air New Zealand, individuals can visit https://bookmyvaccine.covid19.health.nz/ and select “Air New Zealand Jabaseat” during registration.

Air New Zealand encourages participants to register earlier as “spaces are limited” for this “once in a lifetime opportunity.”

Face masks will be required, and physical distances will be practiced during the flight for safety.

New Zealand has reported only 4,760 cases of the virus and 28 COVID-19 related death due to border closures and strict lockdown measures early in the pandemic, as reported by Johns Hopkins University.
