The majority of American employees may be resistant to the push from the Biden Administration for employers to mandate vaccinations for workers in the private sector, according to a new poll from the Washington Post-ABC News.

According to the poll, as many as 16% of unvaccinated workers said they would get the COVID shot if mandated by their employer, while 35% said they would request a medical or religious exemption, and 42% said they would quit their job.

When the respondents of the poll were asked if they weren’t given an exemption to elect out of the vaccination mandate, 18% said they would comply with the requirement, and a staggering 72% said they would quit their job.

The poll also showed that more than 18% of respondents’ employers have a vaccine mandate currently in place.

As many as 52% of Americans surveyed for the poll said they were in favor of businesses requiring employees who go into the workplace to have to be vaccinated, while 44% were opposed to the idea.

More employers are expected to implement COVID vaccine mandates for workers now that the Pfizer vaccine has received full approval from the Food and Drug Administration.

The Pfizer vaccine received full FDA approval on Aug. 23., paving the way for a flurry of vaccination mandates across the public sector, including military service members and federal employees.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported on Wednesday that over 176.6 million Americans have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, accounting for % of the eligible population.
