Child Smoking
Abdulahi Yaroow, 13, smokes a cigarette while chewing khat at the same time in Mogadishu August 10, 2014. Grown on plantations in the highlands of Kenya and Ethiopia, tonnes of khat, or qat, dubbed "the flower of paradise" by its users, are flown daily into Mogadishu airport, to be distributed from there in convoys of lorries to markets across Somalia. Britain, whose large ethnic Somali community sustained a lucrative demand for the leaves, banned khat from July as an illegal drug. This prohibition jolted the khat market, creating a supply glut in Somalia and pushing down prices, to the delight of the many connoisseurs of its amphetamine-like high. A footage of a young toddler forced and encourages to smoke has been posted online. The video has sparked outrage among the viewers.

According to New York Daily News, the two-minute video clip was uploaded to the Web site, LiveLeak, by a user in Macedonia on September 28. The video shows a toddler, dressed in a Babygro and holding a lit cigarette, learning how to inhale smoke from his guardians.

The boy looked confused. He made attempts to return the cigarette to the adults, who weren't seen in the video. They encourage him to puff the cigarette.

In the video, the laughing and joking of his careless guardians are heard. They seemed to be encouraging him to smoke. The innocent boy even put the lit up cigarette up his nose which got the adults laughing even more.

The video has garnered about 46,000 views and 494 comments. It was also shared about 400 times. Though it isn't clear where and when the video was filmed, it has been speculated that it was recorded in Macedonia in Russia.

In Russia, anti-smoking campaigners have said that child smoking was very common. In Russia, 40 percent of the population of adults smoke regularly, reported the Web site, Direct2mum.

Most of the comments were criticisms from the viewers. Here, is a look at a few of the comments.

Grijsje: Don't get so worked up about nothing. The kid is mimicking his parent I guess and for some reason they thought that was cute.

illhaveanother: This is just too disgusting to watch....an innocent kid who does not know any better, and can only imitate and follow instruction from the people he trusts most...humanity has failed again..

John Handy: Becoming a smoker is by far the stupidest thing I've ever done. Anyone encouraging a kid to smoke should be shot.

Beastxxwar: I feel real sorry for that kid. You can see the innocence in his eyes there but judging by this environment where he is being encouraged to do harmful things, he will be stripped of that innocence at a young age if his parental figures keep this shit up. Shame.
