Isn’t it quite surprising that Ashly Williams has failed to make the cut on Top Final 16 in Season 3 of “The X Factor USA” 2013? There’s no doubt that she has a powerful voice. She is a reason why “X Factor USA” was brought to America in the first place, claimed Simon Cowell. She gave Demi Lovato chills even declaring she wanted to take Ashly under her wing. But she did not even make it to the finals. What happened?

Ashly had a moment in her life when she brought down the house with her rendition of Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You” on Sept. 19.

She also brought everyone to tears - - the judges, the audience and America. Ashly made Demi Lovato cry in front of the audience with her rendition of Houston’s hit song. It wasn’t for ratings, Demi was truly emotional, and everyone cheered for her. She has a powerful voice, there’s no denying that. The 24-year old hopeful was the only one to receive a standing ovation for her moving performance.

What really touched everyone was when she told the context why she chose the song, explaining that it was a tribute to her murdered mother.

“This is the moment that I have been waiting for. This is the moment when my mother will be proud to see me accomplish,” Ashly said in the video featurette showed before the auditions on week 2 of “X Factor USA,” as noted in the video clip, showing her auditions on Sept. 19, posted on YouTube.

Here’s what the judges had to say about Ashly’s rendition of Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You,” according to Gossip.com.

Kelly Rowland: “It’s so funny, you’re saying ‘thank you’ to everybody, and it’s beautiful and it’s humbling.”

“But thank you, baby girl, for spilling your heart out in that vocal,” said the Destiny’s Child singer.

Paulina Rubio: “Oh my god, I was just captivated by your talent. That was an amazing performance… You’ve got it.”

Demi Lovato: “Ashly, I’m like speechless. I had chills all over my arms and legs.”

“And I can feel in it you, I can feel that heart…” the judge went on, later adding, ”I want to mentor you.”

And Simon Cowell : “You know what, Ashly, this is why we brought the show to America — to find somebody like you.”

“I think we just scratched the surface with you, Ashley, because I think that you’re seriously, seriously good.”

Ashly made the cut to Top 40 and was dominating the first round of the cut. However, the young hopeful was the first to be eliminated when the four chair challenge came in to play.

It was one of the early eliminations that has shocked millions of audience of the “X Factor USA.” The shock lingers on as the next stage of the reality show began last week with the live performances of the Top 16 finalists and Ashly was not part of the list.

Her elimination has raised more questions than answers why Ashly did not make the cut. The judges believed she was the reason why the show was brought to America. Then why not give her a chance to compete? Was she eliminated to create more drama on "X Factor USA?" Will she be called when the "wild card twist" is put in play and deserving contestants are asked to be back on the show?

More questions. If you want to have your answers, make sure to tune in on "X Factor USA" Season 3, airs on Fox, Wednesday and Thursdays.
