Hot on the heels of From Software’s latest epic, “Bloodborne” comes a retooling of “Dark Souls II,” called “Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin.” Cross-buy titles are the order of the day, with four of the eight titles being released this week supporting the feature.

As noted on the PlayStation Blog, this week sees the long-awaited PlayStation 4 release of Supergiant Games’ acclaimed isometric action RPG, “Bastion.” The game offers a platinum Trophy for collectors, and has been upgraded to run at a silky smooth 1080p/60fps.

According to a post on the Supergiant Games blog, sales of “Bastion” have outpaced even the developer’s own internal estimates. The game has seen release on Xbox 360, Windows PC, Linux, Mac OS X, iOS, Chrome and PS Vita.

“'Bastion's' success exceeded our wildest fantasies by quite a bit -- it's sold more than 3 million copies to date, the majority of which happened many months after the game first came out on Xbox 360 and PC. Word-of-mouth is what kept ‘Bastion’ going for way, way longer than we could have imagined,” he said.

Bastion was released in late 2011 to great critical success and a positive response from gamers. IGN rated the game a 9 out of 10 in its review, which praised the game’s gorgeous graphics, witty writing and fun, tight gameplay mechanics.

This week’s other major release is “Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin,” an updated version of the original “Dark Souls II.” “Scholar of the first Sin” contains all of the post-release DLC campaigns release thus far for the original game and features numerous tweaks to enemy and item placements. The PlayStation 4 version of the game also features an increase in the number of max online players in online sessions, as well as extensive audio and performance tweaks, allowing the game to run at a full 1080p and 60fps.

“Stealth Inc. 2: A Game of Clones” also makes its debut on PlayStation platforms as a three-way cross buy title. The 2D puzzle-platformer sees gamers take on the role of a clone attempting to escape a mysterious testing facility while avoiding environmental hazards and robot sentries. Frantic first-person shooter, “Tower of GUns” also comes to PS3 and PS4 this week, bringing bullet-hell mayhem, epic bosses and fast-paced tactical action to gamers.
