The fourth installment of the world-famous “Toy Story” franchise has been experiencing production delays, according to Disney-Pixar.

Instead of releasing “Toy Story 4” in 2018, the to-grossing animation film will hit theatres across the globe on June 21, 2019. The change of schedule was due to the earlier release of “The Incredibles 2,” which will premiere on June 15, 2018.

“Inferno” star Tom Hanks said he started dubbing the “Toy Story” lead character Woody in December 2015. Various outlets reported that “Toy Story 4” will be a romantic comedy about characters Woody and Bo Peep.

“Toy Story 3” premiered on June 18, 2010 and earned a US$1 billion (AU$1.3 billion) at the global box office. It has become the first animation to join the movie industry’s billion-dollar-grossing films list.

Production of “Toy Story 4” has already been delayed as it was originally scheduled for release on June 16, 2017. The delay was due to the filming of “Cars 3.” Aside from Hanks, “Toy Story 4” casts Tim Allen, Kristen Schaal and Don Rickles.

Meanwhile, Hanks’ Warner Bros. film “Sully” will be shown in late November in France and in early December in Germany, Italy, UK and China. The film has already gone past US$121 million (AU$157 million) since its US release on Sep. 2.

Hank’s “Inferno,” on the other hand, premiered on Oct. 8 in the US and has so far earned US$100 million (AU$130 million) at the international box office.
