Tim Tebow played well in the Philadelphia Eagles’ preseason games but that wasn’t enough to convince the team to include him in their final roster for the upcoming 2015 NFL Season. The popular quarterback is without an NFL team again after the Eagles officially released him on Saturday.

All NFL teams were required to submit to the league their final 53-man roster on Saturday and Tebow joined the likes of offensive lineman John Moffitt and running back Raheem Mosert as part of the team’s final cut according to ESPN.

"[Tebow] really improved his throwing motion from when he was throwing a couple of years ago," Eagles head coach Chip Kelly said. "He worked extremely hard on it and deserves a lot of credit for that. I talked to him a little earlier [Saturday] when we released him.”

During the offseason and preseason games, talk out of Philadelphia is that the team is searching for a third quarterback to play behind starter Sam Bradford and back-up Mark Sanchez.

The Eagles also traded away Matt Barkley to the Arizona Cardinals on Saturday leading to speculations that Tebow had the third QB slot locked down before the announcement. However, it appears the Eagles are willing to enter the 2015 season without another QB behind Bradford, who has struggled with injuries in the past, and Sanchez.

The 28-year-old Tebow had 189 passing yards on 11 of 17 completions with 2 touchdowns in the Eagles’ loss to the New York Jets in their final preseason game. Philadelphia opens their season against the Atlanta Falcons on Sept. 15.
