Microsoft only launched its Surface Book a little over a week ago and the new laptop quickly sold out on the company's official online store.

There was a time when potential buyers that wanted to preorder the device from Microsoft's online store weren’t able to do so. There was only an "Email me when available" option. Clicking this button will prompt the Redmond-based tech giant to send the buyer an email whenever Surface Books are back in stock.

The “laplet” was announced to the public during the company's recent Windows 10-centric event. It was a welcome surprise since the Surface Book is Microsoft's first laptop.

The news that preorders were quick to sell out proved a huge percentage of today's tech users have been waiting for Microsoft to get into the laptop business, as pointed out by Tech Times. The Surface Book is attached to a $1,499 price tag (AU$2,065).

The Surface Book, however, isn’t like a regular laptop. Instead, it’s more like the company's Surface line of tablets, both with regards to its features and design. Surface Book sports a 13.5-inch touch screen display that can be easily detached from its keyboard. Without the keyboard, the Surface Book looks like a tablet.

This is one feature that attracted a lot of potential buyers, especially since the tablet-like feature makes the device more portable. It’s now regarded as one of the key features that makes the Surface Book a better unit and separates it from its rivals in today's tech market, both for laptops and tablets.

Microsoft's Surface Book will reportedly be launched in Canada and the United States on October 26. When the device first sold out on the company's online store, it wasn’t immediately known if buyers can avail of the unit at certain Microsoft retail outlets.
