Samsung Galaxy S6 and the LG G4 are some of the flagship smartphones that are going to arrive in the coming year. Speculations from multiple sources indicate that some of the upcoming flagship smartphones inlcuding the Galaxy S6 and LG G4 will be featuring the 64-bit Snapdragon 810 chipset from Qualcomm. Rumours have it that the chipset is inflicted with various kinds of issues.

Snapdragon 810 Issues

PhoneArena claims the new chipset is marred with overheating issues at specific levels of voltage because of which the processor is unable to deliver optimum performance. The processor is not the only thing that is causing the issue. Even the Adreno 430 graphics unit is not working properly because of bugs in the drivers, states PhoneArena. Also, the RAM controller of the CPU is also causing functionality issues. These problems can be fixed and for this Qualcomm will have to delay the mass production of the chipset, says GSMArena.

Arrival of Flagships Like Galaxy S6 And LG G4 May Get Delayed

If there are flagship handsets poised to arrive in the first half of the coming year with the problematic chipset onboard, they will have to resort to using other kinds of chipsets. The Samsung Galaxy S6 and the LG G4, among other smartphones, are heavily rumoured to feature Snapdragon 810 chip.

PhoneArena highlights that if Samsung and LG do not wish to delay the arrival of their flagship smartphones, Samsung can opt to launch Galaxy S6 with Exynos SoC and LG can make use its NUCLUN SoC on LG G4. However, Qualcomm has not confirmed anything on the problems related to the new Snapdragon 810 chip. Hence, GSMArena claims that such news can be potentially misleading.

Snapdragon 810 Features

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 SoC processor was unveiled recently. PhoneArena claims that the 64-bit Snapdragon 810 chip is an octa-core chipset which will include quad Cortex A57 cores for superior performance and the other quad Cortex A53 cores will help in maintaining power efficiency. The Cortex A57 cores clocks at 1.96 GHz whereas the Cortex A53 cores clocks at 1.56 GHz. The Snapdragon 810 chipset will be able to support Ultra HD video shooting playback, LTE speeds of up to 300 Mbps through Cat 6, up to 55 MP camera, Adreno 430 GPU and many more.
