"Revenge" Season 4 kills off another Grayson, this time it's a sacrifice. Taking bullets for his ex-wife Amanda Clarke, Daniel Grayson dies an enlightened man in Episode 10, "Atonement." Viewers are wondering what would Victoria Grayson do next.

Spoiler alert: This review recaps the highlights of Revenge Season 4, Episode 10.

Victoria Grayson sends Kate Taylor to Emily Thorne's way, telling her to figure out her real connection to David Clarke. She knows the corrupt FBI agent is working for David's nemesis, Malcolm Black. What Victoria doesn't know, and couldn't have seen, is that she started a chain that would kill her beloved son.

Josh Bowman leaving Revenge has been on the TV series rumour mill since late 2013, when Bowman spoke about his death pitch for Daniel Grayson. Naturally, when ABC hyped up that someone is dying in the winter finale (Revenge Season 4, Episode 10), some viewers were sure it would be Emily's ex-husband.

Writer Ted Sullivan and director John Terlesky have done a remarkable job ending the story of Daniel Grayson. Bringing in Conrad Grayson was a bonus for avid viewers of the series. Daniel discovering that Emily Thorne is Amanda Clarke makes his death even more meaningful. That he has an unborn child makes a (former) villain's death even more poignant.

"Sterilizing you was my gift to the universe," Daniel once told Emily Thorne. This was after he nearly killed her with a gunshot to the lower abdomen. But when he learned she is Amanda Clarke, he showed signs of empathy, even telling his ex-wife that they are not too different from one another. (Revenge Season 4, Episode 9)

"It wasn't all a lie," Emily confesses moments before Daniel dies. "I know," he replies, ending the Emily-Daniel tragedy in manner that strongly competes with the Emily-Aiden story.

It would be recalled that in Revenge Season 4, Episode 7 ("Ambush"), Daniel confronts Emily to ask her if there was anything real between them. He asked this after learning that Emily is the real Amanda Clarke.

What happens next in Revenge Season 4?

Revenge Season 4 is reviving the series in ways that could encourage ex-viewers to follow the series again. First, there's the "resurrection" of David Clarke. Then there's the exposure of Emily's real identity to Victoria, Charlotte, and Daniel. Victoria kills Aiden, Emily throws her off to an asylum, the war was not about to end. And then Daniel dies.

David nearly kills Victoria in Revenge Season 4, Episode 10. Then her son dies for his daughter. That is one good twist. Fans would have all sorts of nagging questions in their head throughout the show's winter hiatus.

It remains to be seen whether Victoria would acknowledge her role in her son's death. Will Victoria hunt down Malcolm Black with Emily and David, or will she team up with Louise to bring down the Clarkes?

Daniel Grayson's atonement, his call for the truth, and his decision to stop running will not be soon forgotten. If Margaux stays in the Hamptons, it would not be surprising if she somehow develops a friendship with Amanda Clarke.
