Queens Park Rangers playmaker Adel Taarabt hits back at his manager Harry Redknapp over claims that he is overweight and is not match fit.

The QPR mentor described the Moroccan international as "three stones overweight," which compels him to leave the latter watching on the sidelines.

Taarabt claims, however, that he is being used as a scapegoat over the Hoops' poor performance, sitting at the bottom of the Premier League table.

"It's not true to say I'm not fit. He tried to give an excuse," said the 25-year-old.

"I was desperate to play before the game. I was fuming when I didn't play."

"The journalist was doing his job and asking if I was injured."

"He should have said 'when he is fit he will play'. He is an experienced manager and he should have controlled that situation."

"I didn't do pre-season with the team because I had an ankle injury, so I wasn't 100%."

"I am one kilo lighter than the weight I was when I was on loan at Milan last season. I'm 85 kilos and have always been between 84 and 86."

Meanwhile, he attributed the team's failure to Redknapp's lack of tactical preparation.

"He spends most of the time in his office, but when he gets off the phone he comes down to watch for five or 10 minutes. He never takes a [full] session," he added.

"The problem is we don't have any plan in the game, we don't know how to press as a team. It's not about just running around, you need to play with your brain."
