Russell Tovey has been cast in ABC’s “Quantico” Season 2. Showrunner Josh Safran has revealed that he and the writers designed the new character Tovey will be playing specifically for him.

According to a report by The Hollywood Reporter, Tovey will be playing a character named Harry Doyle. The character has been described as a “mischievous gadabout,” who is “part Thomas Crown, part grown-up Artful Dodger.”

The “mysterious” Harry will be a different person to different people. Harry “i s just as likely to seduce your husband as he is to pick his pocket when it's over.” Safran first met Tovey while he was working on “The History Boys” movie and has wanted to work with him ever since, but it is only now that he is getting the chance.

Tovey’s role of Harry was specifically created for him, the showrunner revealed. The actor has been a part of multiple popular projects over the years that include “The Pirates! Band of Misfits,” “Being Human” and “Grabbers.” His most recent projects include “The Night Manager” and “The Pass.”

The addition of Tovey in “Quantico” Season 2 is the first casting announcement by the TV series so far. The plot of the show revolves around the lives of FBI recruits who train in Virginia. There is a lot of drama and suspense on the show as one of the recruits is suspected to be a terrorist.

The first season of the show ended on May 15. Some of the cast members of the show include Aunjanue Ellis (Miranda Shaw), Priyanka Chopra (Alex Parrish), Josh Hopkins (Liam O’Connor), Yasmine Al Massri (Nimah Amin), Johanna Braddy (Shelby Wyatt) and Jake McLaughlin (Ryan Booth).

The producers have so far not confirmed the exact release date for “Quantico” Season 2. The first season premiered on Sept. 27, 2015 and it is possible that the show will return around the same date this year.
