The battle rages on between Microsoft's Xbox One and Sony's Playstation 4 as each of their sales see-saw week after week. Microsoft claims that since its flagship game console's release early June, the company's sales has shot up dramatically. However, reports reveal the Xbox One's sales still lags behind that of Sony's Playstation 4.

Both the PS4 and the Xbox One are priced at about $400 each. Microsoft ditching the Kinect bundle resulted in $100 savings for its consumers. It is also good to mention that the two consoles are able to play games from popular game developers like Ubisoft, Activision and Electronic Arts.

Both units are also capable of live streaming. However, Sony provides gamers an option to choose between two video platforms, namely Twitch and Ustream, compared to the Xbox One which only links to Twitch.

Now, let's spell out the difference between these two popular gaming devices.

Through a reliable and fast Internet connection, the Sony Playstation 4 lets gamers enjoy remote play function—the ability to continue playing or accessing PS4 games through another Sony gaming device, the PS Vita. Another difference is the PS4's ability to take screenshots of the games or videos played on the device which users can then share to their social media accounts. Meanwhile, reports state Microsoft is still in the process of enabling its gaming console to follow the command, "Xbox take a screenshot". Sony PlayStation 4 also boasts of a built-in audio jack, while with the Xbox One, players can enjoy this add-on feature by paying $25.

When connected with the television, the Xbox One is able to tune in to channels with just a voice command through Kinect or by pressing certain buttons on the wireless controller or the device itself. Once the gaming device, audio receiver, television and the cable box are all interconnected, the Xbox One gives its user the capability of turning off everthing all at once. The PS4 doesn't have this feature since it does not have an HDMI input. Microsoft's premium gaming device has the "resume games quickly" ability, and for controller battery, life gamers can use AA batteries as opposed to the PS4 whose batteries need to be charged using the USB charger included in the package.

Hardware and Features

The PS4 has an 8 GB GDDR5 RAM, x86 AMD Jaguar CPU and AMD Radeon Graphics Core Next engine as its GPU with 1,152 shaders. The Xbox One, on the other hand, has an 853 MHz AMD Radeon graphic processor with 768 shaders, an octa-core Microsoft CPU and an 8 GB DDR3 RAM.

Sony and Microsoft are both doing their best in making their game consoles better. So whether these companies are battling for their fare share in the market or doing innovations to prove that they have better features over the other, in the end, the winner would still be their consumers.
