Portia De Rossi Shares Starving Herself For Ten Days For A Modeling Job

Portia de Rossi opened up again on some of the horrifying ordeals she went through in order to become a successful model. She said at the tender age of 12, she was asked to lose weight and as a result, she did not eat for more than a week for a catwalk job. Her bushy eyebrows constantly triggered other models to bully her.
Portia de Rossi is back to talking about her struggles as a model, an earlier career that made her suffer from all sorts of eating disorders. After publishing a book about her ordeal with her weight and sexuality when she was younger entitled “Unbearable Lightness,” the “Scandal” actress now opened up more about the sacrifices she had to make to be a thin model. Speaking with Entertainment Tonight, she opened up about her long history with bulimia and anorexia, both serious eating disorders she already had to deal with this even before she reached her teenage years. “I felt tremendous responsibility when I was 12 years old and I was put on a catwalk,” said the “Arrested Development” actress, now 42. “My modeling agents had told me to go on a diet, so I didn’t eat for 10 days before then.”
She added that she was not safe from the bullying of other models even though she was doing her best to be “sexy” and “strutting around” on a catwalk. Other models picked on her because of her “bushy eyebrows.” She constantly binged too and vomit afterwards to avoid letting all the “dieting” efforts she did go to waste.
Now married to Ellen DeGeneres, she is speaking on the ET Online docu-series called “It Got Better” to make more people aware of the issue. She said now that she has recovered and lost all the negative feelings she had with food as well as with the vomiting, she is still left with shame, which is the negative consequence of these eating disorders.
Meanwhile, her wife Ellen is also on a mission of her own to make the world a better place, for transgender children. The comedian talk show host is allegedly making a film about transgender children and Angelina Jolie may even star on the movie.
