Google could be paving the way for the nearing realization of its Nexus 6 and Nexus 8 release date plans over the next few weeks or months.

Signs are aplenty that the tech giant's flagship smartphone and tablet will soon be unboxed. One of which is the reported delay of the Android Silver Project that was earlier rumoured as the high-end replacement of the Nexus line of devices.

Android Silver deferred

In its report, The Information claimed that Google is likely to push back its plan of collaborating with gadget vendors to produce top-tier mobile phones and tablet computers. Originally, the project is designed to materialise in the first quarter of 2015 but it appears now that its implementation will be deliberately delayed.

No alternative timetable was provided in the report though The Information offered the likely reason why Google is postponing the program for now - the key person in charge of Android Silver recently parted ways with the Internet search giant.

Though Google has yet to confirm the news, it is likely that will less distraction the company will be more focused on its 2014 undertakings foremost of which is the release of the next Android versions and the hardware to showcase its power - the Nexus 6 and the Nexus 8.

Next Android preview

And Android 5.0, which in numerous reports is referred to as Android L or Android Lion and Lemon Meringue Pie or LMP, seems well on its way to display its new features. The latest glimpse, according to 9to5Google, is the forthcoming Play Store update billed as Google Play 5.0.

The jump was generally minor yet the same report pointed to the touches of Material Design packaged with the modification. It should be noted that per Google, Material Design is one of the core changes that will be introduced with the upcoming Android build - making the iOS rival more straightforward and powerful than its immediate predecessor.

So with bits of the next Android being outed and the supposed Nexus devices replacement out of the way, Google should be able to pour more time and resources to its signature handsets that likely will accelerate their arrival.

The Nexus 6 is rumoured to be moulded after the 2014 Moto X and there are reports that suggest it will be labelled as the Nexus X, bearing mostly the latter's specs and features, come launch time.

The Nexus 8, on the other hand, is speculated as an HTC-built slate that is powered by NVIDIA's 64-bit dual-core Tegra K1 chip. Due to its near 9-inch screen profile, the device is seen to take the name HTC Nexus 9 once it is out of the box.

Release dates of the two native Android devices are likely to happen separately between October and November 2014.
