Lenovo’s Moto brand has revealed the highly-anticipated Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus smartphones at the MWC 2017 event. The G5 handset runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 SoC whereas the Plus version has Snapdragon 625 SoC. One brand that the Moto G5 Plus handset is being compared to is the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4. While the two have the same processor, differences are plenty and they have been elucidated here. Both the smartphones sport full HD Displays but with different sizes.

According to Gadgets 360, the Motorola Moto G5 Plus and Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 have 2GB RAM and 32GB storage options for their base models. They also have 3GB RAM and 32GB storage and 4GB RAM and 64GB storage variants. Storage for both can be expanded up to 128GB via microSD card. The two come in dual-SIM variants. However, the similarities more or less end there. While the Moto G5 Plus smartphone runs on Android 7.0 Nougat, the Redmi Note 4 comes with Android 6.0 Marshmallow with MIUI 8 on top.

In terms of display size, the G5 Plus smartphone has a 5.2-inch screen whereas the Redmi Note 4 comes with a 5.5-inch display. One of the biggest differences is in the battery segment, with the Moto G5 Plus having a 3,000 mAh battery, compared to the Redmi Note 4’s 4,100 mAh battery. The larger battery means more weight for the Redmi handset. The G5 weighs around 155 grams and the Redmi Note 4 weighs 175 grams. In terms of battery, the Moto G5 Plus handset has a 12MP rear camera with dual autofocus, dual LED flash, 4K video recording and f/1.7 aperture.

While both the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 and Moto G5 Plus handsets have 5MP front cameras, the Redmi phone packs a 13MP rear camera with PDAF, full-HD video recording, f/2.0 aperture and dual-LED flash. While the main specs have already been discussed, what remains is the price of the two handsets. The Note 4 DUAL SIM 64GB 4G LTE variant is available in Australia for $330 on Buy Mobile. As far as the Motorola Moto G5 Plus pricing is concerned, only the US and European prices have been revealed up to now.

The Moto G5 Plus 2GB RAM/32GB storage model is priced at $229, the 3GB RAM/32GB variant is priced at around €279 (AU$390 approx). The price of the third variant is not yet known. Stay tuned on IBT AU for more updates on the Motorola Moto G5, G5 Plus and Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 handsets.
