Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge is looking to score goals ahead of his return from injury, and will try to help the Reds achieve their season objective of winning silverware.

The 25-year-old has been on the sidelines since September 5 due to a thigh problem, able to feature in only three Premier League fixtures while totally missing out on other competitions like the Champions League.

"The message to fans is when I come back I'm always looking to score goals and help the team win games and win medals," the England international told talkSPORT.

"I know what's expected of me and what's expected when you put on a Liverpool shirt. I have to put in more than 100 per cent for the shirt. The fans deserve success again. There is an improvement to come."

"The manager is very persistent on how he wants us to play. His methods will always breed success. We were very close last season. This season we'll try our best to get into the Champions League and go from there."

"We are trying to achieve something this season in terms of a trophy. It's about being a winner - I love that feeling of something to show for it. I've signed a new contract and a lot of other players are going to be at the club for a long time, so I'm looking forward to the future with Liverpool."

"I miss it and I want to be out there and I love playing football. Not being able to help has been the hardest thing for me. I've been pushing myself in training day in, day out, making sure when I come back I am prepared and not going to break down."

The Merseyside outfit are two points behind fourth-placed West Ham on the domestic league table, while occupying the third spot in Group B of Europe's top-tier by reason of goal difference.

They have been successful in snatching wins when they were able to score two or more goals since they began their season, which makes the return of Sturridge, who scored 22 goals in the top-flight alone last season, heavily in their favour.
