Kristen Stewart Criticised For Her 'Awkward' Cesar Award Acceptance Speech, Asks Presenter To Keep Her Trophy On Podium [VIDEO]

Kristen Stewart became the first American actress to win the Best Supporting Actress award at 2015 César Awards, the French equivalent of the Academy Awards (Oscars) on Feb 20. However, the “Twilight” actress is criticised online for her “nervous” acceptance speech that she tried to deliver in French language. Her fans also did not like the fact that she asked the presenter to keep her award trophy on the podium.
The 24-year-old began her speech by thanking Juliette Binoche, her co-star in the film “Clouds of Sils Maria.” The actress went up on the stage and looked very happy and nervous, too. Kristen did not accept her award trophy from the presenter and asked him to put the award on the podium as her hands were “sweaty.” The presenter apparently did not like Kristen's gesture and slammed the trophy down at the podium. The “Twilight” actress seemed unaffected by it.
Kristen then nervously took out a small paper that had her speech written in French and started unfolding it slowly. The actress then began her speech in French language but when she could not continue speaking comfortably in the foreign language, she switched over to English language. An interpreter began translating her speech in French for the audience. The actress nervously gestured with her hands and even fumbled a bit while speaking. Check out the video below.
Social media exploded by calling Kristen's speech as “awkward, uncomfortable, dumb and embarrassing.” “That didn't go over so well. Nor did her attempt to speak en Français. Nor did her rambling, bumbling, stammering speech,” writes Craig Takeuchi from The Georgia Straight. Various people have also critisised the presenter for “slamming” Kristen's award on the podium when she refused to take the trophy from him. A YouTube user by the name Mario Kluser said it was “very disrespectful of the guy to smash that award on the table.”
However, there are many supporters of Kristen who believe that it was absolutely normal for the actress to get nervous on the French stage for her award. A YouTube user by the name YakuYabai wrote the reason why Kristen behaved in an awkward manner on stage was because she was “overwhelmed” by the honour. The user adds the actress was really nervous because she was “in a foreign country with critically-acclaimed actors.”
