"The Flash" Season 1, Episode 2, titled "Fastest Man Alive," airs Tuesday on The CW. This week's new episode is introducing a DC villain in the modern-day TV adaptation. Grant Gustin's Barry Allen may be the fastest man alive, but what happens when a villain targets his weakness?

In a report, TVLine said The Flash pilot episode a week ago on The CW drew nearly 5 million viewers, a very good rating that competes strongly with "The Vampire Diaries" pilot in 2009. (Related: 'The Flash' 2014 Spoilers: 10 Things To Know About The New Superhero Series On The CW [Watch Trailer])

In The Flash Season 1, Episode 2, "Barry (Grant Gustin) escorts Iris (Candice Patton) to a university gathering honoring scientist Simon Stagg (guest star William Sadler)," says the episode synopsis from The CW. "Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker) and Cisco (Carlos Valdes) scramble to find out what's wrong with Barry."

DC comics villain Danton Black (guest star Michael Christopher Smith) is introduced in this week's new episode of The Flash. Danton Black, aka Multiplex, has the ability to "make multiples of himself." Comic fans know him as Firestorm's enemy. Incidentally, Robbie Amell ("The Tomorrow People") is joining The Flash as Firestorm.

Barry Allen gets frustrated for not being the superhero that he wants to be at this point. Meanwhile, Joe (Jesse Martin) admonishes him for being reckless.

Watch The Flash 1x02 promo video to see Harrison Wells (Thomas Cavanagh) telling Joe to refrain from doubting Barry Allen's abilities. The same promo shows a quick clip of Arrow's Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards).

"Arrow" showrunners Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg developed the story for The Flash Season 1, Episode 2. Kreisberg and Geoff Johns penned the script. David Nutter directed the episode.

The Flash of the '90s TV, John Wesley Shipp, is also in the show as Barry's dad Henry Allen. Michelle Harrison plays Nora Allen. Barry Allen appeared mid-season in The CW's Arrow Season 2, and Stephen Amell's Oliver Queen makes a cameo in the show's pilot.
