After Saturday’s Battle for Greatness, retirement is the buzz word being floated around in the boxing world. Floyd Mayweather Jr, who won over Manny Pacquiao in a controversial unanimous decision, confirmed he is retiring soon.

“My last fight is in September. And then it’s time for me to hang it up,” the New York Post quotes Mayweather. Money May added that he is not interested in a rematch with Pacquiao for his last fight under his six-fight contract with Showtime.

Likewise, Dionesia Pacquiao, the mother of Manny, reiterated in an interview with GMA what she has been requesting her son the past few years. That is for the 35-year-old congressman to hang his boxing gloves.

Like in previous fights of Pacquiao, Dionesia clutched her rosary and prayed for his victory and protection throughout the 12 rounds. She believes Manny should have been declared winner and criticises the “dirty” way the American boxer fought.

Meanwhile, the gunman who shot international terrorist and bomb expert Basit Usman on Sunday morning confirmed that the man who had a reward on his head came out of hiding to listen to the radio broadcast of the Battle for Greatness, reports GMA.

Presidential Communications Secretary Herminio Coloma also confirmed the death of Usman, who managed to escape from police commandos during the Mamasapano Massacre. However, Army and police officials said Usman died during a firefight with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front, or MILF, in Guindulungan, Maguindanao, reports ABC.

The MILF, meanwhile, insisted that it had held Usman and was about to surrender him to the government when the clash happened.
