Chelsea are reportedly targeting a summer transfer for Liverpool’s Daniel Sturridge, according to the latest transfer rumours.

Mark Brus of Metro suggested that Sturridge is a possible target for Chelsea this summer, with the 26-year-old Englishman’s future uncertain at Anfield due to injury problems. Brus noted that while Sturridge’s injury records could make him a risk, the English international would be a huge upgrade over Loic Remy and Radamel Falcao, having plenty of upsides in his young age.

“Sturridge would offer something a little different and could offer the team the variety they need with his pace, trickery, and ability to score from a variety of angles and distances,” Brus wrote.

Chelsea is also in the hunt for Borussia Dortmund star Mats Hummels, according to the Mirror. Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich set to hand incoming boss Antonio Conte a transfer war chest this summer to bring the Blues back atop the Premier League power rankings, and the German international has been linked as one of their targets.

Hummels, whose contract with the Bundesliga sides expires at the end of the season, is reportedly aware of Chelsea’s interest. The 27-year-old central defender will now have a huge decision to make if whether to stay at Dortmund or accept hefty pay day to play at Stamford Bridge.

Meanwhile, Conte, who is set to assume his managerial role with Chelsea after Euro 2016, has reportedly told the Blues to keep Juan Cuadrado in the club’s lineup, according to The Guardian. Cuadrado spent an “unhappy” stint under ex-boss Jose Mourinho before being sent on loan to Serie A side Juventus last summer, where he recaptured his form and played a major role in helping the Bianconeri to a better spot in the league.

“The 46-year-old has already given the club a list of players he would like to sign but top of the manager’s wishlist is the retention of a player who has not yet been able to make his mark at the club,” the report disclosed.

Cuadrado joined Chelsea on a £23.3 million (AU$43.8 million) deal from Fiorentina in January 2015. The Colombian international made 14 appearances for the English giants, but only started in four games, with no goals recorded.
