As part of Google's "spring cleaning", Google announced that they will be shutting down iGoogle. The iGoogle service is scheduled to end on November 1, 2013.

iGoogle was first launched in the year 2005 and it was one of the first ones that offered users a "personalized" approach in the web. Matt Eichner, the general manager for global enterprise search in Google described this Google service stating ""We originally launched iGoogle in 2005 before anyone could fully imagine the ways that today's web and mobile apps would put personalized, real-time information at your fingertips."
People who would be affected by the shutting down of iGoogle expressed their dismay over the matter. Some users are looking for other alternatives for iGoogle that they could utilize. Here are the best 3 alternatives for iGoogle:

Yahoo

Yahoo and Google have long been rivals and it is just fitting that Yahoo would have its own version of iGoogle. Yahoo provides the newest and freshest content in the web and also offers different personalized options for users. Users would be able to control the kind of content they want to appear and where it appears.

NetVibes

Another good alternative for iGoogle is NetVibes. One of the things that NetVibes can offer to users is personally customizing the type of content and other type of widgets. NetVibes actually offers a wide array of widgets ranging from Gmail, Facebook, Twitter, and other social networking sites. NetVibes also offer themes (or you could create your own) so that users would be more comfortable to work with it. The only downside here is that there are times where the widgets are not that easy to move which can get a bit frustrating at times.

ProtoPage

Protopage has a similar function with NetVibes. Users would be able add widgets and create customized tabs. It also has themes that people choose from. If compared to NetVibes, ProtoPage is much more easier to utilize and the widgets available in Protopage can easily be moved. Despite that, the widgets offered in ProtoPage is just limited as compared to NetVibes. One example of which is the mail widget wherein ProtoPage has only one mail widget while NetVibes offers more that one widget.

Other Google services that would be discontinued by Google includes Google Video, Google Talk Chatback, Google Mini, and Symbian Search App.
