Asus, the Taiwanese-based company announced that the company's Asus Transformer Pad 300 will be released in the market on April 22, 2012. Pre-order for this tablet has already started and this release date would also mean that it will be directly competing against the official debut of Samsung's Galaxy Tab 2.

Asus decided not to use the "Eee" with the Transformer Pad thus having the official name of Asus Transformer Pad 300. Asus has not yet released any official information regarding the selling price of this tablet but retailers like BJs and Office Depot has listed the selling price for US$399.99. This tablet also utilized a quad-core processor (Nvidia Tegra 3 with 1GB of RAM) which was first introduced with the Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime. Asus also mentioned that the Transformer Pad 300 has similar functions with its predecessor albeit having a lower starting price.

Display - It has a 10.1-inch display with a screen resolution of 1280 x 800. Screen type is LCD with capacitive touchscreen feature.

Storage - It has 16GB Internal storage with expandable memory storage through microSD.

Camera - It has an integrated 8MP camera located at the rear part and a secondary front camera with 1.2MP.

Connectivity - This tablet has Wi-Fi, 3G, and 4G LTE connectivity options. It also has a micro-HDMI port for connecting to other devices.

Battery Life - Maximum battery life for this tablet has been estimated for up to 10 hours.

Operating System - This tablet is equipped with the latest Android version which is Android 4.0 or Android ICS (Ice Cream Sandwich).

The Asus Transformer Pad 300 is available in three colors: white, red, and blue. It also comes with an optional keyboard dock thus making the tablet a portable laptop. The Asus Transformer Pad 300 is one of the many Android tablets to be released in the market this year.

The April 22 release date is only confirmed for the U.S. Asus has yet to confirm a release date for the Transformer Pad 300 in the Australian market.
