Three days before the iPhone 6 release date on September 19, advanced reviews of the 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch models have started coming out and the consensus is - Apple has created another big winner.

For the most part, the iPhone 5S sequel was given rousing thumbs up and in the outpouring of superlatives six killer specs and features have been underscored for Apple fans to check before making the decision to buy.

25 per cent faster

With the 64-bit A8 processing chip on board, Apple boasted that the iPhone 6 is 25 per cent faster than the A7-powered 5S. This was attested to by David Pogue from Yahoo Tech.

Following his tests, Pogue declared that "apps pop open about a half-second faster on the new phone."

Gotta love the bigger screen

The Loop observed that Apple fans may it awkward to handle the stretched iPhone 6 screen at first, especially the colossal iPhone 6 Plus that the publication likened to a shrunk iPad Mini version. But the larger display screen that is fired up by a Retina HD panel is easy to fall in love with, The Loop conceded.

Besides, according to Pogue, the upsized front panel means more typing space to navigate on.

Easy to handle

The two iPhone 6 variants definitely dwarf over their predecessors but handling the devices is not a problem at all, if Engadget is to be believed. The tech site agreed as well that in the new iPhone 6, it is true that "thinner is better."

Engadget's Brad Molen shared that "I can still wrap my fingers around the (iPhone) 6 just as easily as I could with the 5s." As for the giant 6 Plus, handling it is "manageable," Molen added.

Unified look

The metal iPhone 6 build benefits from what Tech Crunch termed as a 'unified look' that the publication said is akin to the 'unbroken single plane' finish that Apple had earlier implemented via the trimmed down iPad Air and iPad Mini 2.

This enhancement, all the more, makes the iPhone 6 an irresistible buy starting Friday this week.

Organic Apple experience

The Verge, on its take, praised what it called as the spot-on blend of Apple's aesthetic craft, its polished hardware engineering and the intricately authored iOS 8 that make for an iPhone 6 experience that is "organic and natural in a distinctly Apple way."

Longer battery life

Walt Mossberg of Re/code concluded that as a whole package, the iPhone 6 is easily the best smartphone around, straddling all mobile platforms. But what really made the device truly smart is its extra-long battery life that could last up to 15 hours of moderate to extensive use in a single charge.

Re/code noted that extended battery life applies to both the regular iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus. One last piece of advice from Mossberg: Use the device with protective case because when his review unit accidentally dropped on its face while testing the camera, it resulted to a cracked screen.
