A new feature has been discovered with Apple's iOS 5 camera application and this is the hidden panorama mode.

This new feature found in the iOS 5 camera application means that it would also be compatible with other Apple products like iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. These Apple products are now capable of caputing panorama images once their settings have been activated.

The hidden panorama mode is not officially active as of the moment and consumers who wish to activate this feature would need to undergo several steps in order to use this feature. For Apple products that are already considered as "jailbreak" ones, there is a much easier way to do it. Conrad Kramer, the person who found out about the hidden panorama mode shared the steps on how to access the toggle button for the panorama mode so that it could show up in the camera settings.

The first step includes accessing the com.apple.mobileslideshows.plist in your iPhone 4 or iPhone 4S. The full path name for this is /var/mobile/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mobileslideshow.plist. It is important that you have the developer access to the device that you are using. The next step would be adding "EnableFirebreak=Yes" in that file. After adding that line, a Panorama button will be visible in the options menu for the iPhone camera. This allows the user to take a succession of pictures and then stitch them together in order to attain an extra wide panoramic picture.

As for users who are not comfortable with the "jailbreak" included in accessing this feature, there is also a way although it is much complicated. First step is to download iBackupBot from the official website. Next would be plugging in the device and backing it up through iTunes. Once that is done, open the iBackupBot and find the backup that you previously made through iTunes. Pick that selection and load it. After that, find the pathname Library/Preferences/com.apple.mobileslideshow.plist. Upon finding that pathname, open the file and near the bottom add a "key" and a "string". Save the modifications and right from iBackupBot and restore the Apple device using the modified iTunes backup. The last step is to open the camera application then tap on options and then you can see the panoramic feature.

The Panorama mode is one of the newest features introduced in the Android Ice Cream Sandwich feature. Apple has not yet released any official statement which addresses the reason on why this application is "hidden".
