An image of Jacci Sharkey breastfeeding her 6-week-old soon, Alek, in her graduation gown on the day of her graduation has received amazing response. She posted the picture that viral with a caption thanking her university, The University of the Sunshine Coast in Brisbane, for supporting her during the course of her studies.

Her caption went on to say that she wanted to share a photo from her most recent graduation that she was proud of. She wrote that she was extremely proud of the support that her university provided her with during the course of her degree. She ended her caption with "Thanks USC!"

According to the Daily Mail, the picture that was shared on Facebook received almost 200,000 likes and 6,000 people shared it. On Jacci's request, the university posted the photo online on the afternoon of November 3.

Her degree, a Bachelor of Business, Human Resources Management and Marketing, was for a period of three and a half year during which she had both her children, 20-month-old Ari and the new-born Alek. A spokesperson for the university wrote a message before posting the message that read, "From her recent graduation, this amazing photo and message was sent to us by inspiring mum Jacci Sharkey."

In a talk with Daily Mail Australia, Ms Sharkey said that the purpose of sharing the photo was to encourage other mothers to go ahead and pursue their studies. She said that it was a great message and she wanted it to get out to the world. She continued that she wanted mothers to know that they can juggle both, studies and being a mother and didn't have to give up on either of it. She went on to say that it was a nice moment to have breastfed Alek just before going for her ceremony which was held last October 2.

In addition to receiving positive response for her photo, she received a few negative ones as well. The people criticising it said that breastfeeding was a private moment that need not be shared with the public. Jacci said that she was not going to hide something that had been done for centuries and the picture wasn't about her breastfeeding, but was about supporting mothers.
