Nina Dobrev recently finished shooting for the series finale of “The Vampire Diaries.” The actress, who stars as Elena Gilbert the hit CW series, wrote a heartfelt letter to say goodbye for the second and last time as the show winds down to a close.

According to E!Online, Dobrev initially left “The Vampire Diaries” at the end of Season 6 in 2015. She has returned for the series finale and forwarded her thanks to all her colleagues and fans.

Dobrev posted a photo of The Giving Keys on Instagram, her gift for the crew that includes an inspirational message. The keys were engraved with “TVD” and “#FOREVER.” Dobrev addressed her “The Vampire Diaries” family, saying that it felt only like yesterday that she was saying goodbye. Two years have passed since she left the show, but this is her true final goodbye as she shot her final scene on “The Vampire Diaries” forever. [See the full letter below]

Dobrev said that she had the custom-engraved keys made for her beloved “TVD” family. She said that the Giving Keys supports job creation through a Pay It Forward community.

The “Vampire Diaries” star continued that returning for the series finale has been a whirlwind of emotion, nostalgia, love, tears of joy and bittersweet endings. She said that it feels like the beautiful closure that they all needed and that she was very happy to come home to be with her “TVD” family and friends. She also said that she feels that the fans will also be happy with the conclusion when the last episode airs.

Dobrev also sent her biggest thanks to her fans for the many years of implicit dedication, passion, support and undying love. She appreciates how viewers continued to stick with them throughout the beautiful journey. As the last chapter of “The Vampire Diaries” ends, they look forward to the next adventure and hope that people continue to follow them.

The actress noted that she grew up on “The Vampire Diaries” and is eternally grateful for all the opportunities it has given her. She thanked all the people who worked on the set over the past eight years, saying that they are all pieces of a big and magical puzzle that worked hard to be completed. She added that everyone has touched her heart in so many ways. Dobrev ended her long post with “Love, Katherine, Amara, Tatia, and, of course, Elena Gilbert.”

“The Vampire Diaries” series finale will air on Mar. 10, 2017 on The CW in the US. In Australia, it will air on Fox8. More updates and details are expected soon.
