It is not a rare occasion that Sophie Turner stuns onlookers when walking down the red carpet. However, what made this year’s Emmy Awards extra special is that the “Game Of Thrones” actress was sporting a very meaningful new tattoo that she shares with co-star Maisie Williams.

Turner arrived on the red carpet in a sheer black lace Valentino gown, which she paired with a pair of Christian Louboutin ankle strap sandals. The silhouette was simple and it fell down her body gracefully, giving her overall look a sophisticated yet modern feel.

And while Turner sported beautiful jewellery from Forevermark, her most-talked about accessory was a peach-coloured tattoo, which subtly rests on her right forearm. It reads ‘07.08.09,” or Aug. 7, 2009.

The tattoo, as Turner explained to E! News, represents a special date for her and best friend Williams. "That's the date that we both heard that we got [on] ‘Game of Thrones.” She went on to explain that they share a very special friendship and always wanted to get matching tattoos together.

“We were always planning from season one, like if we make it all the way through, hopefully we could all get a matching thing."

And while Turner and Williams always knew the date was of importance to them both, getting the tattoos at this point in time could prove to be appropriate. As neither actress knows her fate on “Game Of Thrones,” they decided now was a good a time as any.

“We don’t know if we’re gonna make it,” Turner admitted. “Maisie and I were like, ‘Let’s get these ones before anyone kills us.’”

The colour, on the other hand, was from the encouragement of Turner’s mother, who warned her to “make sure it doesn’t show up.”

Williams explained their tattoo’s significance during the BAFTA Tea Party at The London in West Hollywood California. “It’s a day that both of our lives changed forever,” she told Yahoo.
