Sony Ericsson's security troubles continue as hackers breached Sony Ericsson's eShop website this Wednesday. This time the attack was aimed at Canadian users of the website with potentially 2,000 user names, e-mail addresses and passwords taken.

This is not the first time the Sony websites were attacked. In another attack last Tuesday, Sony Ericsson websites in Greece, Thailand and Indonesia were hacked. The new security breach is a big blow to the company who is still reeling from the massive personal data theft from Sony's PlayStation Network and Sony Online Entertainment services that affected more than 100 million user accounts.

The Canadian eShop website, a joint venture between Sony and Ericsson has shut down after the attacks were discovered on Tuesday. The hacked website was a means of promoting the company's products. The attacks have severely undermined customer confidence in its ability to secure their private information. The Greek intrusion took user email addresses, telephone numbers, names and passwords.

NDTV reports that the stolen information from the Canadian website was posted on "The Hacker News" an online news organization that focuses on information related to security threads. No credit card data has been reported stolen this time.

The data breach will result in at least cost the Japanese company at least $170 million in insurance and damages. This news on top of the losses due to the March 11 tsunami and earthquake has led Sony to post a $3.2 billion dollar net loss for the fiscal year.

The PlayStation Network and Qriocity services will be fully restored at the end of the month with identity theft protection for its users. There has been official word when the Canadian site will be restored.
