The Samsung Galaxy Note Edge was showcased alongside the Galaxy Note 4 in September. It is one of the most unique smartphones ever made as it features a marvelous curved display on its right edge. Buyers are very eager to purchase the limited edition smartphone from Samsung but are skeptical about the damage but are also quite curious to know how durable the curved display is. Samsung has used its official blog to address the concern.

According to Samsung Tomorrow, the Galaxy Note Edge is a highly durable smartphone. It claims that engineers have drop tested the Note Edge more than 1000 times along with various kinds of durability tests. The handset was dropped from different angles to check whether the curved display would receive cracks or not.

The Galaxy Note Edge has a metal frame running around the sides of the device that makes the handset very rigid. The frame slightly pops out from the display and when the handset is dropped, the durable metal frame receives the impact first. Hence, the Galaxy Note Edge drops like any other device and the curved display is not the first impact point. Though Samsung has not spoken much about the metal frame of the device, it does feature a shiny metal frame that runs along its edges.

Some may think that the Note Edge's curved display may register touches accidently while holding the device. For this, Samsung claims that their engineers and designers have built the Note Edge with touch sensors that can distinguish between the touch registered by palm and finger. A cool thing about the Galaxy Note Edge is that it can distinguish between different kinds of grips like intentional gestures, deliberate grips and unintentional touches.

The right edge of the Galaxy Note Edge is curved thanks to the bent display it features. What about the left edge of the device? Even the left side of the Galaxy Note Edge is curved to give the handset a balanced appearance. The handset truly appears very sleek and premium.
