Using the Twitter hashtag #WeWantButter, the group is asking the companies, Paula's former company sponsors, to reconsider their decision and give her another chance. The group is also running direct-mail campaign involving - you guessed it - butter:

Deen had shun the limelight since she broke down in the "Today" show in June. Schmitt's "We support Paula Deen" Facebook page now has more than 600,000 followers.

"People on the page are a lot like me," he says. "They support Paula and who she is as a person."

Paula lost some of her good fortune during the duration of the trial

"I sent a butter wrapper knowing that the chuck-a-lucks down at the Food Network probably wouldn't even open it," wrote one supporter in a Facebook message. "But I felt compelled to do something to show that this kind of railroading, for whatever hidden-agenda-ed reason it happened, is not looked kindly upon by the consuming public."

On August 12, the courts had dismissed the racial discrimination claims against Paula Deen filed by former employee Lisa Jackson. Paula's brother Bubba Hiers, on the other hand, is still facing trial for sexual harrassment.
