Disney Channel’s announcement about the cancellation of “Girl Meets World” has left several fans devastated. But avid viewers of the show can still find a ray of hope in knowing that series creator Michael Jacobs is finding a new home for the series. He said it is something that he does for the fans that have even launched a campaign to save the show, which was called the Paper Airplanes for Girl Meets World.

Jacobs has previously talked about fans’ Paper Airplanes campaign, which he said he is grateful for. The campaign was something that fans have come up with by themselves. The showrunner believes that it might help save the show.

The Paper Airplane campaign urges fans to make three paper airplanes and put them in an envelope. Two of the paper planes will be sent to Hulu and Netflix requesting that they pick the show up for another season. Another one will be sent to Disney Channel asking them to sell the rights.

“Networks want to do something to gather an audience. The fact that there is an audience who’s been so loyal says a lot,” Jacobs said.

The show creator assured that he is communicating with networks that might serve as the show’s saviour. In January, he told TV Line that they are at the “very very beginning stages.”

“And I can tell you it’s because of the audience’s reaction to the cancellation that there is interest in other places,” he added. Jacobs believes that in the show business, anyone who do a project for themselves will not sustain long, unlike those who dedicate a television show for the fans. Jacobs' team is doing exactly the latter in “Girl Meets World.”

Jacobs seems confident that the love of fans will play a vital role for the show’s possible fourth season. Even fans, including Reddit user Jedikitty, are hopeful that the show can be saved. "'Nashville' (ABC drama) was recently saved by CMT and from what I remember it was awhile between the cancellation announcement and the official announcement of a new network pick up," the fan wrote.

The last episode of the series aired on its home network has been jam-packed. It saw the biggest reunion of “Boy Meets World” cast, which include Eric (Will Friedle), Shawn (Rider Strong), Mr Feeny (William Daniels), Mr Turner (Anthony Tyler Quinn), Cory's parents (William Russ and Betsy Randle), Minkus (Lee Norris), and both Morgans (Lindsay Ridgeway and Lily Nicksay).

The series aired in Australia through Disney Channel. Announcement regarding the show’s ultimate fate is expected to come in the near future as Jacobs said fans will only need to wait for a few months.
