January 2018 brings about the usual slew of games popping out on Steam. The number can get staggering, which is good news for the industry, but bad news for individual titles fighting for attention.

Below is a list of creepy Steam games you might have missed in the past few days. Here you’ll see a trip to the surreal, a nightmarish night in a new house, and a "fishy" escape puzzle game.

‘Yume Nikki’ – Developer: Kikiyama

“Yume Nikki” has long gained a cult following since its unofficial English translation released a few years ago. Created with RPG Maker, the game follows the surrealistic escapades of Madotsuki. Being a hikikomori, she can’t go outside lest suffer the pains of socialisation. Hence, her dreams serve as her second life, and boy, what dreams she has. Gamers lucky enough to experience the game when it first came out would still remember the bizarre locations that made them question their sanity. The good news is, this cult classic is now available as free-to-play on Steam.

‘DYING: Reborn’ – Developer: NEKCOM Entertainment

This one’s a first-person escape room title that requires players to solve puzzles in order to, well, escape. After waking up in a hotel, protagonist Matthew must do whatever it takes to stay alive while following the instructions of a mysterious person. “DYING: Reborn” was first released in gaming console but it has now found its home on Steam.

‘TheNightfall’ – Developer: VIS-Games

That’s not a typo. That’s exactly how the title is written. “TheNightfall” is branded as an atmospheric horror experience in which you attempt to survive your first night in a new house. Your husband and children won’t be moving in anytime soon, forcing you to stay up and fight the horrors within.
