'Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' season 4 episode 14 spoilers: Coulson and the team try to rescue Mace in ‘The Man Behind the Shield’

In Season 4 Episode 14 of “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” the team will be doing its best to save Jeffrey Mace (Jason O’Mara). ABC and Marvel recently featured the promo video for the upcoming episode, titled, “The Man Behind the Shield.”

Fans noticed that Coulson’s relationship with Melinda May (Ming-Na Wen) has developed more in the past few episodes, before the former realized that he was falling in love with an LMD (Life Model Decoy). Clark Gregg said that it would be difficult for Coulson and May to throw away years of friendship, after working together for two decades. Coulson also risks being brokenhearted.

The episode synopsis of the next “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” on SpoilerTV states that Mace will struggle to survive while Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) and the team will be embroiled in a dangerous hunt as they try to rescue him. Apparently, Mace was lured into a trap, although Coulson may be the real target of The Superior.

According to Super Hero Hype, Season 4 Episode 14 of “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” will continue the Life Model Decoy (LMD) storyline, which follows the group’s encounter with the Ghost Rider. Recently, the team has been dealing with various new and developing threats. The anti-Inhuman Watchdogs are growing their political influence, particularly with Senator Nadeer (Parminder Nagra) and are working together for an unknown benefactor.

In the meantime, Daisy (Chloe Bennet), Mace and the agency are looking for a way to contain an explosive Inhuman. Coulson and Mack (Henry Simmons) also meet Radcliffe’s (John Hannah) inspiration for Aida 2.0 (Mallory Jansen).

In the “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” YouTube trailer, Coulson and the team found a matrix inside what appears to be a warehouse. The matrix showed images of potential targets, although they cannot fully determine what it was really for. The video caption stated that The Superior made a vow that Coulson must die. The final scenes showed some action sequences between Coulson and their enemies. Will he sacrifice himself in exchange for Mace’s safety?

Guest starring on the next episode of “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” are Maximilian Osinski as Agent Davis, Zach McGowan as The Superior, StiviPaskoski as lead SVR agent, Frederick Lawrence as guard and Alexander Chemyshev as Russian thug.

“The Man Behind the Shield” is directed by Wendey Stanzler and is written by Matt Owens. This “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” episode will air on Feb. 14, 2017 on ABC in the US. In Australia, it airs on SyFy.
