“Don Jon” director, Joseph Gordon-Levitt is rumoured being eyed for the lead role of David S. Goyer’s comic adaptation, “Sandman.”

AceShowbiz said that the “Looper” star is directly involved in the development of the film, Goyer proposed to Warner Bros.

There is still no indication of his role in the film, but the news outlet hinted Gordon-Levitt is being tapped to portray the lead character of the film. The film is said to be in its early stage in development but AceShowbiz noted that the Warner Bros. expressed interest in Goyer’s concept.

Goyer is the writer for the hit film, “Man of Steel,” that brought Henry Cavill to immense popularity.

“Sandman” is a comic book written by Neil Gaiman. Published by DC Comics “Sandman” was first printed in January 1989 and ran for 75 issues until March 1996.

Gaiman said has been hoping for a “great Sandman movie,” otherwise the comic book author, asserted, there should be no “”Sandman” movie at all, said AceShowbiz.

"I'd rather see no Sandman movie made than a bad Sandman movie. But I feel like the time for a Sandman movie is coming soon," Gaiman said, according to AceShowbiz.

He added, “We need someone who has the same obsession with the source material as Peter Jackson had with 'Lord of the Rings' or Sam Raimi had with 'Spider-Man'."
